Epidural Steroid Injection

a Kaysville Pain Management Treatment

About The Treatment

Back pain is one of the most common health complaints reported by Americans today. Luckily, there are many treatment options for this condition, including epidural steroid injections. This injection therapy treats inflammatory developments for back pain, leg pain, neck pain, and even arm pain. These painful symptoms can generate from a number of causes including disc herniation, bone spurs, joint cysts, and sciatica.

Using fluoroscopic guidance, your physician delivers steroid (cortisone) to the epidural space of the spine. A local anesthetic is used to provide temporary pain relief for the patient. Following the injection, the physician monitors the effects for about 15 to 20 minutes. If a sedative is used during the procedure, the patient is asked to have a ride home and should also follow patient precautions for the rest of the day.

Based on the severity of the patient’s condition, more epidural steroid injections may be recommended. Generally, we perform no more than three epidural injections in a year. If you think epidural steroid injections could help relieve your back, neck, leg, or arm pain, contact Lifespring Pain Management Center for an evaluation.
